La actitud con la que te enfrentas a la vida te define como persona
Winston Churchill dijo una vez:
La actitud es una pequeña cosa que marca una gran diferencia”.
La actitud es la herramienta a través de la cual una persona afronta una situación concreta, además es una fortaleza a través de la cual una persona puede sobreponerse a diferentes situaciones.
Las personas somos como bombillas que transmiten, pero existen diferencias relevantes entre unas y otras. Victor Küppers, escritor y conferenciante neerlandés, es un firme defensor de esta idea. En una charla que podemos ver en este vídeo, expone la importancia de contar con una buena actitud.
Esto se percibe claramente a la hora de conocer a una persona, esa primera impresión que te da dependiendo de su comportamiento y de su actitud, varía en la imagen que tendrás de ella.
Küppers asegura que mantener la actitud depende en gran medida del estado de ánimo y actualmente existe una inmensa cantidad de gente desanimada y sin actitud, lo cual supone un gran problema. Esto resulta difícil de medir, pero propone una fórmula v=(c+h)·a; esto quiere decir que el valor de una persona se puede calcular sumando el conocimiento y la habilidad, y multiplicándolo por la actitud. No hay que restar importancia al conocimiento y las habilidades, pero lo que realmente suma un mayor valor es la actitud. A la hora de elegir a una persona, generalmente, la elección se decide por su manera de ser, no por sus conocimientos.
Es un argumento esencial que se nos debería inculcar desde pequeños, sin embargo, en el colegio y en la universidad todo está más centrado en contar con una serie de conocimientos dejando en un segundo plano la importancia de la actitud. Por ello, en la Universidad de Deusto de San Sebastián existe un Título Propio de Especialización en Innovación y Emprendimiento. En él los profesores intentan transmitir a sus alumnos que, en la mayor parte de las situaciones es la actitud el elemento fundamental y el que juega un gran papel en todos los ámbitos, tanto en lo personal como en lo profesional. Se recalca especialmente la importancia de la actitud porque es el espacio perfecto para ello, ya que en la carrera –de forma general- está todo más centrado en lo teórico y en evaluar los conocimientos que se adquieren, dejando a un lado este componente tan primordial para afrontar cualquier trabajo o proyecto.
No obstante, tener una buena actitud no se refiere únicamente al hecho de embarcarte en un proyecto, sino que va mucho más allá. Por ejemplo, el simple hecho de contestar un correo electrónico o un mensaje, aunque tan sólo sea para avisar de que lo has recibido ya denota una buena actitud. A pesar de que parezca una acción muy simple, es algo conveniente a lo que no se le da mucha importancia. Cuando recibes un correo, la persona que lo envía no puede saber si has recibido correctamente la información si no recibe una respuesta, además esa persona no tiene por qué estar pendiente de que el receptor del mensaje esté atento o no, ya que eso no forma parte de su trabajo.
Otro punto esencial al respecto es la expresión de la cara o la postura que se tiene en las clases. Existe una gran diferencia entre los alumnos que se encuentran en clase únicamente de cuerpo presente de los que interactúan y tienen una buena actitud. Asimismo, hay alumnos que además de no atender tienen una postura y una cara que denota muy poco interés, lo cual el profesor percibe y puede llegar incluso a perder el hilo. Esta es una de las razones por las que se debe estar en clase correctamente y siendo consciente de dónde se está en cada momento.
Por lo tanto, mantener una buena actitud no se basa en un campo específico, sino que se demuestra desde los más pequeños detalles. Como se suele decir, la actitud se toma frente a la vida, es la misma que la vida tomará ante ti. Asimismo, la actitud con la que decidas enfrentarte a las diferentes situaciones que vayan surgiendo es lo que te define como persona. En esto coincide Juan Bautista Segonds que, basándose en su propia experiencia, relata en este vídeo cómo es imprescindible ser la imagen de lo que queremos ver. Además, argumenta que se debe salir de posición de víctima y pasar a ser protagonista de la vida.
Al igual que Küppers, Bautista cree que elementos como el conocimiento, la habilidad, el talento y la experiencia suman considerablemente, pero que lo que multiplica es la actitud y que, por lo tanto, si tu actitud es baja, todo lo demás va a tener una menor importancia.
En definitiva, las personas nos definen y nos valoran por la manera que tenemos de ser. Por esta razón, cuando estamos desanimados no perdemos habilidades, ni conocimientos, sino que perdemos nuestra forma de ser. No podemos elegir las situaciones que vivimos, pero sí podemos elegir la actitud con la que afrontarlas porque esta es la libertad con la que contamos los seres humanos, el poder decidir con qué actitud afrontar las cosas.
