Citizen Talks for Europe

The information office of the European Commission in Bizkaia, EUROPE DIRECT and the Basque council of the European Movement; Eurobasque, organized a session of Citizen Talks in the La Ribera’s market.

In this session, the participants were Joxerramon Bengoetxea, General Secretair of EUROBASQUE, Maite Zalla, professor of the Public Basque Country University, Ana Juárez, from de Direction of communication of the European Commission and Laura Gómez, professor of Deusto University and member of the EUCLIPE Jean Monnet Chair.

All of them agreed on the importance of the citizens when it comes to decide how the European Union should be. Furthermore, some citizen who attended shared their doubts and objections over some points such as the European Budget for agriculture, the possibility to achieve a Federal Europe and climate change.

Students of Loiola Legal Association work with the European guide ¿How to write clearly?

Many people see themselves undefended against administrative and law documents. Against this problem the European Unión has edited in the guide ‘’Cómo escribir con claridad’’ as they believe in that documents which are clear is more effective and it is better understood. That it is known as plain language.

Following that spirit, Clínica Jurídica Loiola1 has developed a lecturer featuring the organization ‘’Lectura Fácil Euskadi Irakurteka Erreza2, to improve the legibility and the comprehension of the documents we write.

The workshop has been given on February the 14th to the students of the Law Faculty of Deusto University

The EUCLIPE Jean Monnet Chair publishes the book ‘’EL PILAR EUROPEO DE DERECHOS SOCIALES. CONTRIBUCIÓN AL EMPLEO Y AL MERCADO DE TRABAJO’’

This book places the European Pillar of social rights within the frame of the current integration of the European Union, building for the lector a strong understanding about the meaning of its approval, range and applicability. Therefore, there is an analysis of how contributes to the European law and European social politics as well as economic governance, which is required to follow European integration.

Once this frame has been analysed, the book focus on which has been considered as the main challenge of the European Union after the 2008 crisis: the employment. In addition, its studies deeply the ten principles of the job market in the chapters ‘’Igualdad de oportunidades y de acceso al mercado de trabajo2’’ and‘’Condiciones de Trabajo Justas3’’

Finally, it offers a valuation of how implement it through the current economic tools of the European Union, observing, nevertheless, the harmony of this policies with the European Semester and making recommendations for its development among the European members.

This work has been elaborated in a multidisciplinary way, mainly legal but taking into account economic and social sciences perspective. Therefore, in this book has been conceived thanks to a mixed methodology, with legal analysis and analysis of content and stadistics.

The professors Marta Enciso, Aitziber Mugarra y Laura Gómez, members of the Euclipe Jean Monnet Chair have published the following chapter ‘’Innovación social para el empleo en la Unión Europea. El caso del cooperativismo y la economía social”1 in the book ”Nuevos horizontes y perspectivas para el derecho en el siglo XXI”2 (pp. 277-290. Thomson Reutes, Pamplona, 2018)

This performance derives from the research investigation SI-Drive, financed by the European Commission under the VII Marco Program dedicated to social innovation, being related to impulse job creation. The chapter begins studying how the European Union has participated in the realms of social innovation and social economy since the 2008 crisis, observing how the problem of unemployment is solved. In this frame, the chapter explore the main principles of elements and results of the SI-Drive project in order to contrast them with successful performances that show in practice the accuracy of the investigated aspects in the Basque country

Semminar on the European asylum system

The June eleventh, Joana Abrisketa, member of the Euclipe Jean Monnet Chair, organized a seminary which focused on the European system of asylum within the frame of the project EURASYLUM, financed by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness of Spain.  In this seminary, many experts had come from many parts of Spain such as Deusto University, Carlos III University, Pompeu Frabra University and Pontifical Comillas University.

In this event, the main lines of the project were introduced taking into the failure of the last project, SECA, and the parallel policies of the externalization of migratory control. Among the final goals of the project there are included the analysis of the international tendency and their connexions with the European Union policies of the asylum, to value the deficiencies of SECA and its reform and evaluate the tools used.
