Taliban claim responsibility for the Afghan parliament attack that has happened today. Six gunmen tried to attack the building while another Taliban fighter detonated a bomb outside the parliament. According to Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry all attackers have been killed and more than 30 people, all civilians, have been injured as a result of the attacks. The parliament was in session and Sidiqa Mubarez, a member of parliament, point out that the attacks coincide with the confirmation of Masoom Stanekzai as defense minister, a post that has been vacant for nine months. In addition, the attacks raise questions about security as Afghan forces battle Taliban for the first time without NATO’s aid.
