Following on from a previous Culture programme and MEDIA programme, the European Commission launched a new framework programme: Creative Europe (2014-2020). It will support not only the initiatives of the culture and the audio-visual sector but is also meant as a cross-sectorial strand, including transnational policy cooperation. Cultural and creative organizations from EU Member States state, as well as from non-EU Member States, will have the chance to benefit from this programme, which was assigned a budget of €1.46 billion (9% higher than its predecessors). The aims are to provide instruments for a better accessibility of Europe’s culture to international markets and audiences, and to contribute to a sustainable growth of the sector while promoting social cohesion.
