<\/a>Last Friday 5th of november more than 50 UD students from India, Argentina, Japan, USA, France, Mexico, Peru, Spain, Ecuador, Turkey, Byelorussia, Chile, Venezuela, Yemen, Guatemala, Colombia\u2026met at Deusto Campus\u2019 lounge. This successful meeting -arranged by Deusto Campus-Faith<\/em>– is part of Garate International Project<\/em>. Its aim is to promote the cultural-exchange amongst the international students of the UD.<\/p>\n

Those who played a leading role in this first meeting were the students from India. They got dressed up for the occasion in traditional Indian clothes and gave the place some hinduist atmosphere. The purpose of this meeting was to present the Festival of Lights or Diwali<\/em>, a religious celebration of India. While the guests were tasting the dishes they had prepared, Gaurav Kumar gave to all of them a detailed description of Diwali. It\u2019s the festivity that marks the beginning of the new Hindu year and is one of the most significant and joyful nights of the year. Lakshm\u00ed<\/em> -goddess of prosperity and fortune- is Diwali\u2019s presiding deity. During this festivity, special foods are made <\/em>and houses are cleaned and beautifully decorated with candles and small oil burning lamps that are lit at dawn.<\/p>\n

After Gaurav\u2019s presentation, everybody was invited to light the candles that had been scattered all over the place and to join the prayer dedicated to the Hindu deities Lakshmi y Ganapathi. For a moment there was a total silence\u2026 before the dancing started. Encouraged by the Indian students, many of those presents dared to dance to the rhythm of the Indian music (it wasn\u2019t easy at all). Was like that, singing and dancing, how Diwali ended.<\/p>\n

El pasado viernes 5 de octubre los locales de Deusto Campus se llenaron de m\u00e1s de medio centenar de estudiantes de la UD procedentes de todos los rincones del mundo: la India, Ecuador, Per\u00fa, Turqu\u00eda, Espa\u00f1a, Kazajst\u00e1n, Bielorrusia, Estados Unidos, Chile, Venezuela, Yemen, Francia, Argentina, Jap\u00f3n, Guatemala, Colombia, M\u00e9xico\u2026 Este encuentro, impulsado desde Deusto Campus-Fe, se enmarca dentro de Garate International Project<\/em>, cuya finalidad es la de fomentar el intercambio cultural entre los estudiantes internacionales de la UD. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

La primera edici\u00f3n -todo un \u00e9xito- tuvo como protagonistas a los estudiantes de la India. Acudieron vestidos con ropas t\u00edpicas de su pa\u00eds y se encargaron de decorar el local con motivos propios de su cultura. Todo ello para dar a conocer al resto de los invitados una de las celebraciones religiosas de su pa\u00eds: el Festival de las Luces o Diwali<\/em>. Mientras los asistentes al acto degustaban los platos que ellos mismos hab\u00edan preparado para la ocasi\u00f3n, Gaurav Kumar realiz\u00f3 una detallada descripci\u00f3n del Diwali<\/em>. Es la festividad con la que se celebra la entrada del nuevo a\u00f1o hind\u00fa y es una de las noches m\u00e1s significativas y alegres del a\u00f1o. La divinidad que preside esta festividad es Lakshm\u00ed<\/em>, diosa de la prosperidad y de la fortuna. Durante el Diwali<\/em> las casas se limpian de forma especial y se adornan con diversos motivos y l\u00e1mparas de aceite o velas que se encienden al atardecer.<\/p>\n

Tras la presentaci\u00f3n, los asistentes fueron invitados a encender las velas que hab\u00edan sido repartidas por todo el local y a unirse a la oraci\u00f3n que se dedic\u00f3 a las deidades hind\u00faes Ganapathi<\/em> y Lakshm\u00ed<\/em>. Fueron instantes de silencio y recogimiento, previos a la m\u00fasica y al baile. Muchos de los all\u00ed presentes, animados por los estudiantes de la India, se lanzaron a moverse al ritmo de la m\u00fasica t\u00edpica de aquel pa\u00eds (lo cual no resulta nada f\u00e1cil). As\u00ed, entre canciones y danzas propias de su cultura, fue como finaliz\u00f3 la celebraci\u00f3n del Diwali<\/em>.<\/p>\n
