Todas est\u00e1n centradas en el an\u00e1lisis matem\u00e1tico, particularmente en los campos de las ecuaciones diferenciales parciales (EDPs), la teor\u00eda de control, la teor\u00eda de aproximaci\u00f3n y la aplicaci\u00f3n de la inteligencia artificial a las matem\u00e1ticas. Su trabajo tiene implicaciones te\u00f3ricas y pr\u00e1cticas, desde la resoluci\u00f3n de ecuaciones diferenciales hasta la optimizaci\u00f3n y el control de sistemas din\u00e1micos.<br><br>Licenciado en Matem\u00e1ticas (1984) por la Universidad del Pa\u00eds Vasco, posee un doble doctorado por la misma universidad (1987) y la Universit\u00e9 Pierre et Marie Curie de Par\u00eds (1988). En 1990 fue nombrado Catedr\u00e1tico de Matem\u00e1tica Aplicada en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, para trasladarse posteriormente a la UAM en 2001. Ha sido galardonado con el Premio Euskadi (Pa\u00eds Vasco) de Ciencia y Tecnolog\u00eda 2006 y el Premio Nacional Julio Rey Pastor 2007 en Matem\u00e1ticas y Tecnolog\u00edas de la Informaci\u00f3n y la Comunicaci\u00f3n y las Advanced Grants del Consejo Europeo de Investigaci\u00f3n (ERC) NUMERIWAVES en 2010, DyCon en 2016 y CoDeFeL en 2022. En 2022 recibi\u00f3 el Premio W.T. e Idalia Reid de SIAM. Fue ponente de secci\u00f3n invitado en \u00abControl y Optimizaci\u00f3n\u00bb en ICM2006, Madrid.<br><br>Desde septiembre de 2019 ocupa la C\u00e1tedra de Din\u00e1mica, Control, Aprendizaje Autom\u00e1tico y Num\u00e9rica &#8211; C\u00e1tedra Alexander von Humboldt, en el Departamento de Matem\u00e1ticas de la Friedrich-Alexander-Universit\u00e4t Erlangen-N\u00fcrnberg (FAU) en Alemania. Tambi\u00e9n es Cient\u00edfico Jefe de Algoritmos en <a href=\"http:\/\/sherpa.ai\/\">Sherpa.ai<\/a>, miembro de la Academia Vasca \u00abJakiunde\u00bb, Fellow de la Artificial Intelligence Industry Academy (AIIA), de la Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA) y de la Academia de Europea.<br>Ha supervisado a m\u00e1s de 30 estudiantes de doctorado y una amplia red de estudiantes de m\u00e1ster, investigadores posdoctorales y t\u00e9cnicos de investigaci\u00f3n y gesti\u00f3n.<br><br>Cuenta con m\u00e1s de 300 art\u00edculos publicados. All are focused on mathematical analysis, particularly in the fields of partial differential equations (PDEs), control theory, approximation theory and the application of artificial intelligence to mathematics. His work has theoretical and practical implications, from the solution of differential equations to the optimisation and control of dynamic systems.<br><br>He earned a degree in Mathematics in 1984 from the University of the Basque Country, followed by a dual doctorate\u2014one from the same university in 1987 and another from Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris in 1988. In 1990 he was appointed Professor of Applied Mathematics at the Complutense University of Madrid, later moving to the UAM in 2001. He has been awarded the Euskadi (Basque Country) Science and Technology Award 2006 and the National Julio Rey Pastor Award 2007 in Mathematics and Information and Communication Technologies and the European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grants NUMERIWAVES in 2010, DyCon in 2016 and CoDeFeL in 2022. In 2022 he received the W.T. and Idalia Reid Award from SIAM. He was an invited section speaker in \u00abControl and Optimisation\u00bb at ICM2006, Madrid.<br><br>Since September 2019 he holds the Chair of Dynamics, Control, Machine Learning and Numerics &#8211; Alexander von Humboldt Chair at the Department of Mathematics of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universit\u00e4t Erlangen-N\u00fcrnberg (FAU) in Germany. He is also Chief Scientist of Algorithms at <a href=\"http:\/\/sherpa.ai\/\">Sherpa.ai<\/a>, a member of the Basque Academy \u00abJakiunde,\u00bb and a Fellow of the Artificial Intelligence Industry Academy (AIIA), the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA), and the European Academy. He has supervised more than 30 PhD students and a wide network of Master&#8217;s students, post-doctoral researchers and research and management technicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has published over 300 papers.
