Lorea Romero Guti\u00e9rrez es investigadora postdoctoral Juan de la Cierva del Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovaci\u00f3n y Universidades (Espa\u00f1a) en la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales y Humanas de la Universidad de Deusto (Espa\u00f1a). Es integrante del equipo de investigaci\u00f3n Deusto Valores Sociales de esta misma facultad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Su investigaci\u00f3n se enmarca en el an\u00e1lisis sociol\u00f3gico e historiogr\u00e1fico de las desigualdades de g\u00e9nero, con una orientaci\u00f3n hacia la intervenci\u00f3n institucional mediante la incorporaci\u00f3n de la perspectiva feminista en las pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas. Sus l\u00edneas principales de investigaci\u00f3n son el an\u00e1lisis de la pol\u00edtica y el trabajo feminista en las universidades, la innovaci\u00f3n curricular feminista, los m\u00e9todos de investigaci\u00f3n feministas en ciencias sociales y humanas y la actuaci\u00f3n institucional ante las violencias machistas. Actualmente participa en el proyecto Horizon Europe IMPROVE, Improving Access to Services for Victims of Domestic Violence by Accelerating Change in Frontline Responder Organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Su labor investigadora ha sido reconocida por la Federaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola de Sociolog\u00eda, con el premio a la mejor tesis doctoral en Sociolog\u00eda del G\u00e9nero (2024), el Consejo Social de la Universidad de Cantabria (Espa\u00f1a), con el premio a la mejor tesis en Ciencias Sociales (2025), el Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado otorgado por esta misma instituci\u00f3n (2024), el VII Premio de investigaciones feministas en materia de igualdad otorgado por la C\u00e1tedra sobre Igualdad y G\u00e9nero de la Universidad de Zaragoza (2023) (Espa\u00f1a) y el premio al mejor Trabajo Fin de M\u00e1ster concedido por el Aula Interdisciplinar de Estudios de las Mujeres y de G\u00e9nero de la Universidad de Cantabria (2018).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Es Graduada en Sociolog\u00eda por la Universidad de Salamanca (2014) (Espa\u00f1a), Doctora en Equidad e Innovaci\u00f3n en Educaci\u00f3n por la Universidad de Cantabria (2022) y posee adem\u00e1s dos m\u00e1steres en sexolog\u00eda y g\u00e9nero y formaci\u00f3n del profesorado. Para la realizaci\u00f3n de su tesis doctoral obtuvo un contrato predoctoral del Programa de Personal Investigador en Formaci\u00f3n Predoctoral de la Universidad de Cantabria (2018-2022). Ha sido investigadora visitante en el Programa de Estudios de G\u00e9nero de la Universidad de Islandia (2021) (Islandia), profesora visitante en la UNTREF de Buenos Aires (2024) (Argentina) y en este momento participa del Programa de Profesorado Visitante del Margherita von Brentano Center for Gender Studies de la Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin (Alemania). Durante el periodo 2019 a 2023, form\u00f3 parte de la Comisi\u00f3n Espec\u00edfica de Evaluaci\u00f3n de los T\u00edtulos Oficiales de Doctorado de AQU-Catalunya y desde 2025 es miembro del Equipo Directivo del Comit\u00e9 de Sociolog\u00eda del G\u00e9nero de la Federaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola de Sociolog\u00eda.

Las fundadoras de la sociolog\u00eda practicaron una investigaci\u00f3n CON la sociedad y comprometida con el cambio social. Formularon preguntas sobre la realidad social alternativas al canon y desarrollaron m\u00e9todos ad hoc. Revindico su legado frente a una ciencia neutra, pautada y productivista. Debemos apostar por una ciencia rigurosa, comprometida con el cambio social y guiada por la \u00e9tica, la honestidad, la creatividad y la autonom\u00eda intelectual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lorea Romero Guti\u00e9rrez is a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral research fellow, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, in the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at the University of Deusto (Spain). She is a member of the Deusto Social Values research group within the same faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her research focuses on the sociological and historiographical analysis of gender inequalities, with a particular emphasis on institutional intervention through the integration of feminist perspectives in public policy. Her main research areas include the analysis of feminist politics and labour within universities, feminist curriculum innovation, feminist research methodologies in the social sciences and humanities, and institutional responses to gender-based violence. She is currently involved in the Horizon Europe project IMPROVE \u2013 Improving Access to Services for Victims of Domestic Violence by Accelerating Change in Frontline Responder Organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her research work has been recognised by several institutions: she received the award for Best Doctoral Thesis in the Sociology of Gender (2024) from the Spanish Federation of Sociology; the Social Council of the University of Cantabria awarded her the prize for Best Doctoral Thesis in the Social Sciences (2025), as well as the university’s Extraordinary Doctorate Award (2024); she was also honoured with the 7th Prize for Feminist Research on Equality by the Chair in Equality and Gender at the University of Zaragoza (2023), and received the award for Best Master\u2019s Dissertation from the Interdisciplinary Centre for Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Cantabria (2018). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Salamanca, Spain (2014), a PhD in Equity and Innovation in Education from the University of Cantabria (2022), and two Master’s degrees\u2014one in sexology and gender, and another in teacher training. Her doctoral research was supported by a predoctoral fellowship from the University of Cantabria\u2019s Research Staff Training Programme (2018\u20132022). She has held visiting researcher positions at the Gender Studies Programme at the University of Iceland (2021), and served as a visiting lecturer at UNTREF in Buenos Aires (2024). She is currently participating in the Visiting Scholar Programme at the Margherita von Brentano Center for Gender Studies at the Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin (Germany). From 2019 to 2023, she was a member of the Specific Evaluation Committee for Official Doctoral Programmes at AQU-Catalunya, and since 2025, she has served on the Executive Committee of the Gender Sociology Section of the Spanish Federation of Sociology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The founding figures of sociology carried out research with society, always focused on social change. They asked questions about social reality that challenged the established norms and developed their own unique methods. I advocate for their legacy, standing against a neutral, rigid, and productivity-focused approach to science. We need to champion a science that is rigorous, committed to social change, and guided by ethics, honesty, creativity, and intellectual independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
