Last 17 and 18 February, researchers Marta Enciso and Garbiñe Henry took part in the General Assembly meeting to launch the European project, Social Innovation: Driving Force of Social Change (SI Drive), which was held in Dortmund. This meeting marks the beginning of the work on social innovation that will be carried out in the next four years, with funding from the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Union. The consortium consists of 25 partners, 16 community and 9 non-community partners, which allows a suitable representation of different regions worldwide.

The aim of this research is to develop a theoretical conceptualization and examine the circumstances under which social innovation causes changes in the current structures, policies, institutions and behaviours. In addition, identifying the key factors that help social innovation to have a sustainable, continuous social impact will be an important part of the project.

To do this, a total of 300 socially innovative cases worldwide will be identified, of which 70 of the most relevant experiences will be selected and analysed in depth. These cases will be representative of the different world regions and will refer to the key work areas of the project. These areas, which coincide with the EU’s strategic policies include: employment, environment and climate change, energy, mobility and transport, health and social issues and poverty reduction and sustainable development.

As for its political impact, this project also includes key goals, since it seeks to contribute to the Europe 2020 strategy, providing ideas and recommendations that can be implemented in collaboration with the institutional, economic and social agents in social innovation, and where universities play a key role.

The University of Deusto has an interdisciplinary research team that comprises ten researchers from the Faculties of Law and Social and Human Sciences, and the Deusto Social Innovation Unit (DIS), and the teams on European Integration, Economy, and Development and Social Innovation for people (EDISPe). It also has the support of the International Research Project Office (IRPO) at the University of Deusto.

  1. The new Zune browser is incredibly Fantastic, but not as very good as the iPod’s. It is effective perfectly, yet is just not as quick as Safari, and contains a clunkier interface. If on your own sometimes application on taking the world-wide-web browser that’s not an issue, nevertheless if you are creating in the direction of read through the net alot from your PMP then the iPod’s more substantial display and much better browser could possibly be major.
