
Sara Lenzi es una investigadora Ikerbasque (Ikerbasque Research Fellow) en el Instituto Tecnológico DeustoTech de la Universidad de Deusto desde 2023 y pertenece
al equipo de Investigación Deusto Design Research Group.
Después de comenzar su carrera como pianista y saxofonista en su ciudad natal de Trento (Italia), realiza sus estudios universitarios en filosofía de la ciencia y composición musical en Bolonia (Italia). En 2008 funda la primera consultoría de diseño de sonido en Italia gracias a una financiación para ideas innovadoras y mujeres emprendedoras. En 2012, ya en Singapur, diseña experiencias multisensoriales basadas en sonido para, entre otros, el Museo de Arte y Ciencia de Singapur, el Aeropuerto Changi, Ducati Motors, BMW Asia, Volkswagen y FIAMM Energy Technology. En 2021, obtiene el doctorado y trabaja en las prestigiosas universidades de Northeastern University de Boston (EE. UU.) y en la Delft University of Technology (Países Bajos).
Sus principales líneas de investigación están relacionadas con la sonificación de datos (el uso del sonido como medio complementario o alternativo a lo visual para el análisis y representación de datos) y el estudio de la percepción del paisaje de sonido en entornos urbanos.
Preside regularmente conferencias internacionales sobre investigación de diseño y estudios de sonido. Es miembro del Comité Ejecutivo de la Design Research Society, miembro afiliado del Center for Design de la Northeastern University de Boston, investigadora visitante en el Critical Alarms Lab de Delft University of Technology, y miembro asociado del Public Data Lab.

Who carries out research at the University of Deusto? Meet Sara Lenzi

Sara Lenzi has been an Ikerbasque Research Fellow at the DeustoTech
Technology Institute of the University of Deusto since 2023 and is a member of the Deusto Design Research Group.
After beginning her career as a pianist and saxophonist in her hometown of
Trento, Italy, she pursued university studies in the philosophy of science and musical composition in Bologna, Italy. In 2008, she founded Italy’s first sound design consultancy, supported by funding for innovative ideas and female entrepreneurs. In 2012, in Singapore, she designed multisensory experiences based on sound for organisations including the ArtScience Museum, Changi Airport, Ducati Motors, BMW Asia, Volkswagen, and FIAMM Energy Technology.
In 2021, she obtained her PhD and worked at prestigious universities such as Northeastern University in Boston (USA) and Delft University of Technology (Netherlands).
Her main research interests lie in data sonification (the use of sound as a complementary or alternative medium to visual representation for data analysis) and the study of soundscape perception in urban environments.
She regularly chairs international conferences on design research and sound studies. She is a member of the Executive Committee of the Design Research Society, an affiliate member of the Center for Design at Northeastern University in Boston, a visiting researcher at the Critical Alarms Lab at Delft University of Technology, and an associate member of the Public Data Lab.
