Last 26th November, Nuha Alsaheedi, a yemeni student of the UD, presented to the students of Garate International, the Adha Eid or the Festival of Sacrifice. It is one of the most important festivities for Muslims. This year it was on 16th November. On this festivity Muslims sacrifice domestic animals like goats, sheep, cows, camels, etc. as a commemoration of the sacrifice made by Prophet Abraham to God.
The celebration of Adha Eid starts 70 days after the end of Ramadan, usually lasting four days, and represents the end of the Islamic year. On this day, Muslims dress in new clothes, there are early morning prayers followed by Sheer Korma breakfast.
Soon after breakfast, the sacrifice takes place and the meat of the slaughtered animal is distributed in three equal parts amongst the neighbours, friends, family members and poor people as a way of wishing each other happiness.
In the evening, Muslims visit their relatives and friends to celebrate the festival all together. Delicious food and non alcoholic drinks are served to all those people who visit Muslim places on these days.

El pasado día 26 de noviembre Nuha Alsaheedi, alumna yemení de la UD, se encargó de presentar a los alumnos de Garate International una de las fiestas religiosas de su país: Adha Eid o Fiesta del Cordero. Según explicó Nuha, dicha festividad, que este año se celebró el 16 de Noviembre, es la Fiesta Mayor del Islam. También es conocida como Pascua musulmana y tiene lugar al término del peregrinaje anual a La Meca, 70 días después de finalizado el Ramadán. Es la fiesta con la que se conmemora el episodio en el que Abraham está a punto de sacrificar a su hijo Isaac, algo que Dios impide al ordenar a Abraham que sustituya a su hijo por un carnero que hace aparecer junto al altar del sacrificio.
Dicha conmemoración se lleva a cabo mediante el sacrificio de animales domésticos como cabras y ovejas, aunque también pueden llegar a sacrificarse otros como vacas y camellos. La carne del animal sacrificado es distribuida a partes iguales entre los vecinos y amigos, los miembros de la familia y los necesitados, como una forma de compartir con todos ellos la alegría del momento.
